About
Joe Heffern is a young American Fashion Designer and Artist with a strong focus on surface design, print design, community and diversity. With a comprehensive background in fine art, hand-print craft, and a passion for storytelling, he seeks to bring a vibrant and brilliantly creative energy to the desperately underserved world of Gender-Fluid Fashion. Over the course of his four years spent studying Fashion Design at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts, and abroad at Central Saint Martins at University of the Arts London, Joe Heffern spent time immersing himself in the youth and DIY arts culture, and crafted a body of work which merges collective experiences with his personal identity. Joe Heffern seeks to design fashions that blur the boundaries of gender and sexuality, highlighting the delicateness of masculinity and the power of femininity with hopes of pushing the world into a more expressive and inclusive future.

Every Anise piece has a history — from the relationship with the artisan, to the life of the wearer. We design each of our collections with the intention of creating pieces that can be passed down through generations, with minimal waste and minimal carbon footprint. Our jewelry is all made by local artisans based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with expertise in traditional methods of crafting jewelry by hand.
